Happy September from TheArtList.com!

Great art picks up where nature ends.
~ Marc Chagall

Greetings from TheArtList.com.  It's "back to school" time and cooler temperatures - a time of year that is very busy but also great for re-engaging and motivation.  The fall is also a great time to get out and visit gallery exhibits at local colleges and universities. You may be afforded the chance to see the next big up-and-comer!

We have had a flood of submissions over the last month as galleries and organizations are opening up their fall calendars. Be sure to login and check out the unique exhibits and art/photo opportunities that are being submitted daily.

TheArtList.com would also like to express our sympathies to our members who might have been impacted by hurricane Irene. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have a great number of members who live in New England, and encourage all of you to help by donating to the relief effort.

A note on our recent website outage...

Last week, TheArtList.com's website went down when our hosting provider had a major issue with the "Cloud" server that our website was hosted on. It resulted in several days of outage and even some lost new member data. As part of an upgrade in 2010 we had moved TheArtList.com website to a cloud hosted server to increase stability and reliability. Well as it turns out, we experienced more issues in on that cloud server in 2011 than with any other previous hosting provider in years past. So there is also a chance that if you signed up for a "Free" membership on 8/22 or 8/23 that your account might have been lost and you will probably need to re-register. We are very sorry about this and will gladly help out if you have any questions or need any help. This was the very last straw and our programmers have been working around the clock to move the website to another web host that will hopefully provide the stability and reliability that we need to run our website. It has been a frustrating time for us and we deeply apologize to all of you who were affected by this outage.

**Note - For those of you that are new to TheArtList.com, our monthly newsletter only showcases a small sample of featured listings. We have lots more in the online database. For Premium Members, there is a great little feature on your member homepage that allows you to view all of the new submissions since the last login. When you see something of interest, just click on the "save to favorites" link at the bottom and it will automatically be saved into your "My Opportunities" Manager for later reference.

If you are an older Free Member, Expired Premium Member, or even just a member of the free mailing list, we highly recommend upgrading to a Premium Membership. The cost is only $27/year and having the ability to login and search the art call database without the interruption of full page ads is well worth the small membership fee. Upgrading is as simple as clicking on the Upgrade link in your member area.

September 2011 Artist of the Month
This month we are very excited to showcase Milwaukee, Wisconsin artist, Jenie Gao as the September 2011 Artist of the Month.

Please take a moment to view Jenie's Artist of the Month page, her interview and artwork are fascinating and inspiring: http://www.theartlist.com/aom_09_11.html

Wishing you all a very creative and productive September!

Best,

TOPTEN, Abstract Consequences International Art Competition

Online Event - Calls for Submissions - , Ceramics, Metalsmithing, Sculpture, Oil, Photography, Art Gallery

To be a poet with line, form, color, space and composition and to use each of these elements to evoke something that moves beyond object and materials is the work of the abstract artist. To have the capacity to comunicate sensations directly without definitions, parameters or concept is an extremely delicate and intense process.Artists who offer themselves up to this creative process and have the courage to break boundaries and limits merit our attention and respect. It is a matter of letting go into the process, of being present in the moment in which inspiration takes possession and moves the creative instinct. We encourage all artists to participate by sending in your best 5 images.
