Muniz's photograph Cabinet of Curiosity and Winters's print Strings (for Cabinet) are now available exclusively from Cabinet. ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Terry Winters (born 1949) is a painter who lives in New York City and Columbia County, New York. He has had solo exhibitions at Tate Gallery, London; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Whitechapel Art Gallery, London; the Kunsthalle Basel; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin. Winters is represented by Matthew Marks Gallery, New York.
Vik Muniz (born 1961) is a photographer and self-described "low-tech illusionist" who lives in Brooklyn and Rio de Janeiro. In his work, Muniz has used a wide range of materials—from chocolate and sugar to junk and toys—to create images, often art historical, that he records with a camera. He has had solo shows at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the International Center of Photography, New York; and MACRO, Rome, among others, and his work is in the collection of museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain, Paris; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and Tate Gallery, London. Muniz is represented by Sikkema Jenkins & Co., New York; Xippas Gallery, Paris; and Nara Roesler Gallery, São Paulo.
ABOUT CABINET
Since its founding in 1999, Cabinet has presented an expansive range of multi-disciplinary activities that include producing a quarterly magazine, publishing books, and organizing talks, readings, panels, workshops, screenings, conferences, and exhibitions. Cabinet inaugurated an event space in the fall of 2008 to host exhibitions of contemporary art and historical materials as well as an eclectic schedule of events, all designed to extend the magazine's engagement with art and culture into the public realm.
