THE PROJECT
Berlin, liquid city in continuous transformation, can be described from an esthetic-geographic point of view and from an esthetic-experimental prospective.
Starting form this consideration we have asked to 8 artists to define 7 itineraries based on their personal city experiences.
From the 21st September and for the following 7 weekends Maria Mitsopoulou, Bruno di Lecce & Claudia Olendrowicz, Irma Markulin, Rebecca Agnes, Paolo Barlascini, Chryssa Tsampazi and Vassiliea Stylianidou will walk us through uncommon paths, full of discoveries and opposed to the pseudo-cultural touristic industry.
The project is the result of a reflection about the walk practice as esthetic instrument that can describe and modify those metropolitan spaces with still an unknown and undefined nature.
The involved artists investigate the territory starting from a subjective research. They instill their curiosity by exploring places out of spaces projected by the architects. They don't restrict themselves to walk through the city of monuments, squares, big venues and parks.
Their practice is an experiment of mapping of the city in its unconscious. Un extreme and brave attempt of exploration of those apparently unspectacular areas, but unveiling an authentic and fascinating charm.
The WALKS become open air workshops and actively involve the participants, questioning the artists, reading and writing the visited places through the act of walking.
The walks are addressed to those who live the journey as an instinctive need of research and experimentation of the reality and of the space around.
