Wide Open 3 Juried Art Show NYC  Call to Artists - Deadline January 23, 2012 We are excited to announce the third annual national juried art show, Wide Open 3, opening March 18, 2012. And once again we are fortunate to be joined by a very prestigious juror--Charlotta Kotik, Curator Emerita of Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. With her direction, we look forward to a really awesome show. The broad theme of "Wide Open 3" encompasses all the possibilities of knowledge and freedom and love--wide open spaces...arms wide open...eyes wide open--but as with all things, there is the inevitable opposite--wide open to attack...corruption...failure. What kind of fantasy is this? What does it really indicate? This juried show looks to explore this idea of "wide open" in all the hidden niches of our collective psyche. Deadline for submissions Early Bird: January 4, 2012 or Final Application Deadline, January 23, 2012 Gallery Exhibition Dates: March 18 - April 1, 2012 weekends 12-5:00 PM Opening Reception: Sunday, March 18, 2011 from 12-5:00 PM Awards | $2950 in Cash Awards BEST of SHOW: $1000.00 At the Opening Reception, the artist whose work is juried as 'Best of Show' by Charlotta Kotik will receive a $1,000 cash prize and a complimentary one-year BWAC membership. PEOPLES' CHOICE: $500.00 The artist whose work is voted 'Best' by attendees at the Show Opening will receive a $500 cash prize and a complimentary one-year BWAC membership. CURATORS' CHOICE: $250.00 The artist whose work the Show Curators choose for excellence will receive a $250.00 cash prize and a complimentary one-year BWAC membership. BEST IN CATEGORY: $1200 $100 each in the following twelve categories: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Film Photography, Digital Photography, Classical Pastel/Drawing/Print/Graphics, Computer-aided Pastel/ Drawing/Print/Graphics, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Assemblage, Installation, Fabric. All selections will be made by the juror, Charlotta Kotik. Bonus Offer Artists accepted into Wide Open can also send one additional work that will be exhibited in our Affordable Art area. All works must be smaller than 12" x 16" and must be priced for sale at $500 or under. Eligibility This call for submission is open to all residents of the U.S. and its Territories 18 years of age or older. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D media, including film/video when part of an installation. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution.  Submission and Fees Only original works may be submitted. BWAC prefers an Online Entry, mailed CD entries are charged an extra $20.00 uploading fee and must reach us by midnight January 4th. All entry fees are non-refundable. Early Bird Submission (through midnight, January 4) $45.00 for up to three (3) images ($65.00 if mailed) plus $5.00 for each additional image. Submissions between January 5 and midnight, January 23: $65.00 for up to three (3) images, plus $5.00 for each additional image. All submissions must be online during this period. All entries must be registered/received by midnight, January 23, 2012. Sculpture and installations: artists may use two additional images for details, at no extra charge.
