Presentation and Book Launch / "Happy Failure," with George Pendle
Date: Wednesday, 11 June 2014, 7–9 pm
Location: Cabinet, 300 Nevins Street, Brooklyn (map and directions here)
Please join us for an evening with author George Pendle guaranteed to set a new standard in book lunches. Pendle will be our unassailable guide on a magical journey through the heights and lows of his new book Happy Failure and will provides object lessons in the profound relationship between failure and artistic/literary practice.
From the disastrous stunts of Evel Knievel to the perpetual ruins of William Beckford, from Andy Warhol's unlike lookalike to the insincere suicidal urgings of the lemming, is failure, as Gore Vidal once wrote, "the condiment that gives success its flavor," or can it be appreciated as a main course in it's own right?
Pendle's presentation will begin at 7:30 pm. Copies of Happy Failure will be available for buy.
